Freeride in Gudauri: powder starts right off the chairlift
Gudauri is one of the few places in Europe where big powder terrain is reachable straight from the lift: step off the chair and an untouched slope is in front of you. But off-piste forgives mistakes only when you know the mountain. Our guides ride here every season and know where today's best snow is — and where you must not go under any conditions.
How a freeride day works
- Morning — avalanche assessment, briefing, equipment check: transceiver, probe and shovel for every rider.
- Riding — powder descents with the guide choosing the line by snow and weather; the group rides one at a time, covering each other.
- Backcountry — for the prepared: hikes to slopes no lift can reach and long descents all the way to the road.
Who it suits
For your first freeride it is enough to ride confidently on any groomed slope — the guide picks gentle, safe terrain where you feel the powder without the risk. Experienced riders get serious lines: couloirs, tree runs and full-day backcountry tours. We work with snowboarders and skiers, groups up to six.
Avalanche equipment is provided, and we teach you to use it before the first descent — a mandatory part of the programme, not a formality.
